a tale of two basses

So a few days ago before we finally let go of our car, I drove to two places to pick up two basses: the 2014 Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI and the 2023 Cort C4 Deluxe.

The former is my second Bass VI. The first was the Classic Vibe Bass VI which I had trouble making music with. I got the second one cos she was sold cheap. I decided to try the Bass VI again as my playing has since improved since my last one. This VM Bass VI was cheap for a reason: she had been abused and neglected. It took me quite a while to clean and set her up with new strings. She still has the scars but she is singing well now. I’m still exploring music with her.

The C4 is a beauty with her blue finish and matching headstock. She’s cheaper than the Bass VI. I have learned to like basses with active circuits. And I do intend to get a budget bass to work on the Mark Sandman experiment, ie, two strings. So far, I am reluctant to take two strings off the C4, cos it sounds like a waste to do that. But eventually, I would.
