Gibson Les Paul Less+

2015 was the year Gibson did unusual things for all their guitars, perhaps in commemoration of the great Les Paul’s 100th birthday if he were still around. One weird feature was the G FORCE (robot) tuners which irked most Les Paul players. I didn’t like the idea of them until I got my hands on this Gibson Les Paul Less+. They are useful in my opinion but I most likely would change them out for the traditional Kluson or Grover tuners.

The detachable pickguard was also not well-received generally. I’m fine with it. They also had Les Paul’s close-up shot in hologram at the back of the headstock and the handwritten printed words “Les Paul 100” on the front of the headstock. The coolest of the 2015 guitars was the golden hardcase.

So the Gibson guitars in 2015 all ended up as one of a kind, never be replicated again.

But I decided to get the Less Plus ‘cos of her 57 classic humbuckers (known as the PAF reissue), split coil function and her cheaper price tag. Her thin body and lightweight are cool too. Her neck, however, is thicker than my Studio. I need to get used to it.

Time to hope that the Studio is sold.

And someone is offering a Gibson SGS3 + 1200 to trade for the Deluxe Pro. Good idea to get some cash, ship out the Deluxe Pro and try an SG before selling it.

The goal is to keep the Less Plus as the only Gibson. And she looks gorgeous too.
