So as planned, I managed to trade my Kiesel CT6 for another Gibson; the 2006 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion III. This is my first semi-hollowbody electric guitar.
I was reluctant to take this up due to her player’s condition; dusty, tarnished hardware, minor scratch marks and a buckle rash. My Kiesel CT6 is in perfect condition. Yet, I let my head rule. I know the Gibson has a higher value and it is probably a more versatile axe. With a slightly heavy heart, I let my Kiesel go and welcome the Howard Roberts who was supposed to be a legendary musician.
When I brought the Gibson home, I started playing with her. She doesn’t disappoint. She can play the cleans, the jazz tones and unplugged. And true enough she can growl and play rock really well. I just need to clean her up and restring her. She’s worth the trade.
So now I have the Gibson Les Paul Traditional and the Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion III. I still can’t decide which one to keep. I could sell the LP to make some profits or I could trade the HR for a standard LP or a PRS or a TA or a Suhr.
I shall play by the ear.
