first schecter and a very heavy one

This is my first ever Schecter – the Omen Extreme 6 belonging to the Schecter Diamond series. Got this for 160 with her push-pull split coil knob(also the tone knob) loose and the volume knob stuck. She also came without a bag and strings.

I didn’t have the push-pull pot so I replaced the loose and stuck tone knob with a new one, no push-pull. I managed to loosen the volume knob too. After stringing and cleaning her up, I played her. She’s clearly built for heavy metal and hard rock music. Her clean tones are nice too. And she looks quite pretty in that orange. And she’s quite heavy for a modern axe. As expected, I have put her up on sale.

Ps updated 26/9. Overnight with the new strings, there are 2 hairline cracks on the headstock. My first experience with this problem. I loosened the truss rod to release the tension. And this led to raising the action. I had to adjust the bridge to lower the action. Will have problem selling her. I’m alright with keeping her for good.

So what happened? First, the neck has softened with extensive playing. Second, someone over-tightened the truss rod. Third, unknown. So going forward, I will check the neck before putting on strings.
