introducing the attenuator

Thanks to Tim Pierce, the legendary musician, I learn the benefits of the attenuator. It essentially allows me to crank up my amps to higher volumes to get their sweet spots without blasting sounds into the family and neighbourhood.

For my Fender Pro Junior IV, I set the volume at 2. I can crank the sound up with the pedals. For my VOX MV50 AC, I also set the volume at 2. It has its ownboard gain knob that can crank up the amp voice.

Then, I went on to get this yesterday – the Bugera PS1 Power Soak. I hooked it up to my MV50 and alas, I could hear the dirt of the AC voice when I upped the volume on the amp at reasonable decibels via the Bugera. It was almost like an eureka moment for me. I am excited.

I will hook the Bugera to my Pro Jr once I get an extension cable ‘cos that’s where I want to use the Bugera eventually. I am looking forward to it.

So this is the beginning of the attenuator in my music journey. It cost a hundred buck.
