Today, I went much in with my rigs, looping and layering to play “With or Without You” by U2 at home. Using the Boss RC-10R as the hub, I ran multiple instruments simultaneously and created a mini live setup.
- Drums: Looped the alternative rock 4/4 sequence from the RC-10R.
- Bass: Electron went through Bass Chops, laying down the classic famous bass drone D – A – Bm – G.
- Rhythm guitar: Spring through Love Notes, strumming the bass line.
- Short melody: Layered on top of the rhythm through the RC-10R.
- Lead guitar: Spring took the lead, weaving simple lines atop the loops.
- Vocals: I sang along once the music ran.
Everything fed through the RC-10R worked seamlessly. The experimentation showed that the pedalboard could handle multi-instrument setups well, keeping the timing tight and textures distinct.
I will try tackling the Edge’s haunting reverb lines for the lead parts.
It was a satisfying session — from layering to singing along — and a great reminder that with the right tools, you can make home setups feel like the stage.
