Today, I finally welcomed my 1974 vintage Fender Precision Bass home after more than a year at Guitar Connection. The original bass was awash with white paint by the previous owner (a retired local musician). I sent it for a refinishing job.
It was a job well done. The body was “aged” with the right amount of “wear and tear”. The checking on the neck was brilliant and the fretwork was amazing. I am very pleased.
I am very tempted to sell her off for a profit (which could get me my Tom Anderson or Lipe). Yet, she’s a refinished vintage instrument and she will turn 50 in three years’ time (like me). Her valuation could go up as the days, weeks, months and years go by.
What should I do?
