this beauty means business

Yesterday, I welcomed this 2015 Fender Japan JM-66 Jazzmaster Reissue in glorious old candy apple red with matching headstock. A young gentleman offered a trade involving the Squier Class Vibe Bass VI and the Epiphone Sheraton-II PRO. With some favourable dealings previously, this Jazzmaster effectively cost me less than her market value.

Today, after cleaning her and changing the strings, I played her with her Jazzmaster single-coil pickups. The last time I played some Jazzmasters at the store, I didn’t enjoy any of them. Maybe it was the setting. But this time, this JM-66 sounds amazing with her growl which differs from my Gibson P90s. I must admit this red beauty’s charm and roar mean business, and she could push my Les Paul all the way.

Right now, I have a repertoire of growling guitars I like a lot: Gibson Les Paul Classic, Fender Jazzmaster, Epiphone Casino, Gretsch G2622T and Epiphone Les Paul Junior. Even the G&L George Fullerton growls very well with her strat single-coil. I would love to keep all of them. But if I am serious about the goldtop P90s, I must let them go.
