Back in 2023, I had the chance to try a 1989 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster with gold lace sensor pickups and the tbx mid boost and tone control. I liked it a lot but I didn’t buy it. I had regretted it since then. And I’ve been waiting for the right Clapton strat with lace to come. Some are in the market but they’re priced too high in my opinion.
Then in the second week of January this year, I saw this 1988 beauty in Torino Red on Ishibashi. Without much hesitation, I made my purchase.
After days of travelling plus the GST top up, she has finally arrived. What a sweet-looking signature strat! Her pickups are so powerful that I can skip a boost and a drive pedal. The only bumpers are the non-original gator case and the missing trem arm.
She’s priced similarly to the black one. I’m happy with my acquisition.
