why PRS never stayed (ii)

Too Flawless to Love

Like many players, I think PRS guitars are just too flawless. Every contour is sculpted, every fret polished to perfection. But where’s the tension? Where’s the grit?

Most of my guitars have flaws—small dings, finish checking, a bit of hum when things are cranked. But these aren’t imperfections to me. They’re proof of life, marks of character. The quirks in my R6 or the soul in my Clapton Strat… they speak louder than any flawless finish ever could.

PRS guitars are undeniably excellent. But maybe that’s the problem: perfection isn’t always inspiring. It doesn’t pull something raw out of you. It doesn’t challenge you to wrestle with it, to coax out the emotion.

I want guitars that feel like a conversation—not a polished lecture.
