Today, I felt something rare in the world of tone chasing: contentment.
I looked at what I had, and for once, I didn’t feel the need to reach for more. Because what’s here already works. And it works beautifully.
The Amps That Stayed
My Fender Pro Junior IV — that’s my Fender tone. Warm, articulate, honest. No reverb, no fuss, just a voice I trust.
The Blackstar HT-1R — an incredible platform. Small, but sonically rich. She lets me chase the Marshall and Vox characters without owning a wall of amps. She listens, she responds, and she gives back exactly what I put in.
I no longer need a Marshall or a Vox. I already have their spirit.
The Drives That Ended the Chase
The Hudson Broadcast AP is more than a drive — it’s feel, it’s studio texture, it’s a preamp with character. It makes every guitar speak in a new accent, without losing its voice.
The Kasleder House of Blues — a rare gem. Number 20 of just 50. A Dumble in a box, but more than imitation. She reacts. She blooms. She sings when I touch the strings.
Together, they’ve made me realise: I don’t need a Klon. I don’t need a King of Tone. I don’t need to find a real Dumble.
I already have something real.
The Orange That’s Enough
I’ve learned that I’m not a fan of the Orange tone. But I respect it. The Orange Crush Mini with cab gives me just enough of that voice to understand it. That’s all I need. No more. No less.
Gratitude Over Gear
Today reminded me: I’m not here to collect. I’m here to play.
What I have is not a pile of gear — it’s a set of tools that match how I feel. They respond to my hands, my moods, and my moments. They aren’t standing in for something else. They are what they are. And that’s enough.
I must be thankful. Because I’m not chasing anymore.
I’m home.
