what a steal! what a steal! what a steal!

I can’t stop smiling. This 1992 Ibanez RT was put up on sale for $110. I managed to bring it down to $100, quite confident that she is the made-in-Japan RT-150. When I collected it, I could not believe my luck. It was made in Japan in August 1992 in the Fujigen factory. The previous owner had not been taking care of her. The guitar was extremely dirty.

I invested some time to dismantle her partially to clean her up and even fixed the tone knob. I discovered that the neck has a stamp mark “RT-150” and the body has a stamp mark “RT-140”. It’s strange as an RT-140 would have HSS pups but this one has the RT-150 HSH pups. I’m guessing that during the assembly, someone put in the wrong stamp on the body. Nevertheless an RT-140 was also Japanese-made.

With a fresh set of strings, I played her eagerly. And man, she sounds fantastic! I’ve got a real steal on this deal! $100 for a Japanese guitar that resonates well.

So far, I’ve sold all my cheap guitars made in Indonesia and China. For this, I’m not sure if I would sell a cheap Japanese guitar.

Let me enjoy her more first.
