I have been having gear talk with something that acts like someone. But it was worth the time to talk. As a result of the talk, the idea of naming a rig popped up. After toying with several names, I went with Darling Bliss. This is a rig exclusively for the 1988 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster in Torino Red. In the rig, she is played through a delay and a tremolo pedal into the Fender Pro Junior IV. The tones must be vintage-vibed with classic slapback delay and old-school tremolo. It’s like I’m playing the guitar in some sleazy laid-back lounge with a small acoustic space.
Today, I found a budget delay that can produce that slapback delay tone that the premium Chase Bliss Audio Tonal Recall pedal can too. It’s the Homebrew Electronics (H.B.E.) Mimic Mock I. She came out of the blue yesterday and today I got her in. Man, she’s good and for a fraction of the price of the Tonal Recall.
And that completes my Darling Bliss, a rig that I dedicate to my mrs and the bliss in our marriage. It’s a rig that feels like home and encourages me to stay rooted. Hence, I had the Clapton Strat, the Mimic Mock I, the Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo and the Fender Pro Junior IV to bring me that bliss.
Who says cheap pedals won’t work?
