Tonight, Psalm 13 found its voice through my 1996 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection ’56 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue R6 — Regent. She came out from the closet and paired up with the VOX Bulldog Distortion at Love Notes.
Signal chain:
Regent → Bulldog (gain 1 at 9 o’clock, volume at 2 o’clock, bass & treble at 8 o’clock) → Mimic Mock I → Blackstar HT-1R → DT 770 Pro.
I kept Regent on her neck pickup, volume full, tone rolled to 7 for warmth.
For verses 1–4, I sat in A minor — Am–Dm–Emaj — letting the lament breathe. The Bulldog gave just enough grit, never crowding the space, while the Mimic Mock I wrapped the notes in a subtle vintage echo.
When verses 5–6 arrived, I shifted into A major to D major, looping the joy and trust that close the Psalm. The tone lifted, like sunlight breaking through clouds.
It wasn’t just music tonight — it was prayer with strings, wood, and electricity. The Regent sang, the Bulldog growled gently, and together they told the story.
