I have always enjoyed a good drama series though I don’t binge watch that much. However, thanks to the restricted travel, I managed to catch a few drama series (other than the rest of the holiday activites which I will share in another post). I thoroughly enjoyed the K-drama in While You Were Sleeping. However, I found myself liking Hotel Del Luna a lot. Other than the obvious attraction to the main leads, I have loved the secular story much.
Why?
The story has not only been well-crafted by the Hong sisters, it has also been well-acted by the cast. It has an eclectic mix of romance, humour, philosphy and horror(not much really) that creates loads of emotions. It is ably supported by a set of lovely songs throughout. And it got me thinking.
In fact, the last two episodes of the series(the best part of the series in my opinion) has got me thinking a lot with tears too. The departures in the story, though expected, still proved too much for many folks emotionally, yours truly included.
Why?
To the story characters, every departure means eternal separation. The departed will leave physically from their loved ones and they will also lose their memories of their loved ones. And that, to me, is too sad/scary, even if they meet again in a future new life (according to the secular belief).
What does this lesson teach me, a Christian?
A loved one who believes in Christ will leave me physically. Yet we will be reunited with each other in heaven, memories intact.
A loved one who does not believe in Christ will leave me physically and we will never be reunited, memories intact; memories that will only make the eternal separation more painful.
How much of this pain will I have?
